Project Overview
This project involves the design and execution of a 2-bedroom residential home
located in Khargar near Golf Club, the area of the flat is around 800 square
feet, the owners of the flat are a husband and wife both of whom are doctors.
The project was focused on creating a harmonious blend of simplicity and
elegance. The primary objective was to deliver an interior that exudes
sophistication while remaining practical and low-maintenance. The client’s
vision was to achieve a space that combines understated elegance with ease of
upkeep, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and long-term functionality.
Client Requirements
The client sought an interior design that reflects a refined sense of style yet
remains straightforward and uncluttered. Emphasis was placed on choosing
materials and finishes that not only contribute to a clean, elegant look but
also minimize the need for ongoing maintenance. The design needed to strike a
balance between visual appeal and practical longevity, catering to the client’s
preference for both beauty and efficiency.
Interior Design Approach
Color Scheme and Materials
- Color Palette: The design incorporates a neutral colour palette
with soft whites, muted greys, and warm beiges to create a
calming and versatile environment. Accent colours are applied
sparingly to maintain simplicity.
- Materials: High-quality, durable materials were selected for
their aesthetic and practical benefits like handmade brick tiles
for the TV unit, laminate and acrylic shutters for the kitchen
unit, easy-to-clean surfaces for countertops, and
high-performance paint finishes that resist wear and staining.
Furniture and Layout
- Furniture: The furniture selection focuses on minimalist design
with clean lines and functional forms. Each piece was chosen for
its timeless elegance and durability, ensuring it complements
the overall aesthetic while requiring minimal upkeep.
- Layout: The spatial arrangement promotes an open and airy feel,
optimizing natural light and enhancing the sense of space. The
layout is designed to be both practical and visually appealing,
with an emphasis on creating fluid, functional areas.
Lighting and Fixtures
- Lighting: The lighting design integrates both ambient and task
lighting to enhance the elegance of the space while providing
practical illumination. Energy-efficient LED fixtures were used
to reduce maintenance and operational costs.
- Fixtures: Fixtures were selected for their modern, clean design
and ease of maintenance. They are designed to be both
aesthetically pleasing and resistant to common wear and tear.
Finishes and Textures
- Wall Finishes: The walls feature a combination of smooth paint
and textured finishes, chosen for their durability and ease of
cleaning. These finishes provide a sophisticated backdrop while
minimizing maintenance requirements.
Maintenance Consideration
- Low-Maintenance Design: Every aspect of the interior design was
chosen with maintenance in mind. From the choice of materials to
the design of fixtures, the focus was on reducing the time and
cost associated with upkeep.
- Durable Materials: Materials that are resistant to staining,
scratching, and general wear were prioritized to ensure that the
interior retains its elegance with minimal intervention.
